The Acro-Wine team is made up of José and (me) Anaïs. José started his personal yoga practice more than 10 years ago, when I was still a baby in this environment.
The concern of : What is Partner Yoga? Comes up frequently.
Why not do a yoga session together, everyone on their own mat? Isn’t it the same?
Well our answer is: NO, there are big differences between doing yoga on your own mat and sharing it!
There are different modalities in which we can perform yoga with another person.
Discover the benefits of Partner Yoga Practice :
We do have different practices :
- Everyone on their mat and one of us guides the session
- Perform the movements we need individually
- Follow an online class together
Although we share the session, these three modalities are still individual practices (in our opinion).
When one of us is leading the session from his mat, or when we are performing movements on our own, we are not connected to each other’s bodies. Our mat is thus a kind of individual bubble.
The key to Partner Yoga is to listen to oneself and to the other person, touch is the tool that allows us to listen carefully!
The key to Partner Yoga is to connect with what our partner needs without stopping listening to our body, for this, we have physical contact as a tool, which allows us to have a deeper approach. The crossing of gazes and breathing in unison are also very important.
Once the difference between doing a yoga practice simultaneously and doing it in unity with the other has been clarified, we can go deeper and talk about the benefits of this practice.
People often approach us with that concern that we will try to clarify.
What does Partner Yoga bring you?
For us, this type of yoga brings a different dimension to our respective practices. We play a lot with each other’s weight, to test our limits (sometimes too much maybe, hehe).
In addition to flavoring our yoga sessions with a discipline that gives us the space to create sessions according to our needs, partner yoga helps us in our daily lives.
This discipline is undoubtedly the activity that we prefer if we want to work together and do not have the energy to do Acro-yoga. This practice allows us to work on listening to the other and improve our energy reading, thus bringing our energies to a similar level.
Since we practiced regularly, we have improved in interpreting each other’s emotions, intolerance when we feel uncomfortable, in our complicity…
The game of energy that is transmitted during the session helps us to gain compassion as well (a bit like The Sims). Physical contact allows one to express oneself without the need for dialogue and, non-verbal communication comes into play…
That’s it !
Now you know everything about this discipline. Keep up with your new Yoga habits and we hope you enjoy the challenge !
