Why start Restorative Yoga?

Last month we saw some of the benefits of this type of yoga. Today, we want to list the 7 Good Reasons why you should start your Restorative Yoga practice!

Reason number 1: Force you to take time for yourself

When you know you have Restorative today, you already know you’re going to take time for yourself! And that forces you to slow down, your mind and body go into DISCONNECT mode and that’s worth it in a fast-paced life. Taking time for yourself is good for the body, because we slow down a little, but also for the mind. We spend our day giving, giving and giving; it is important to pamper ourselves and take care of ourselves.

Reason number 2: To take your first steps in meditation

As mentioned earlier, this restorative yoga practice is a time to relax and clear your head, the way to do this is to focus on your breathing and enter a state of effortless well-being. As this type of yoga relaxes and does not stretch, we are better able to enter a meditative state, as the posture does not disturb us!

Reason number 3: To help you fall asleep

A short 15-minute restorative session in bed before you go to sleep gently ushers you into the realm of dreams. People who practice this yoga sleep better and sleep is less restless. We also use restorative yoga in the morning when we wake up, to wake up gently and start the day with an open chest for example.

Reason number 4: To beat your stress

As it is good to take time for yourself and focus on your breathing, it is also nice to note that this practice lowers your heart rate and your breathing becomes slower and slower, your stress and anxiety can be calmed down with this practice. The blood flows everywhere when you practice restorative yoga and it reboosts your cells!

Reason number 5: Gives you energy

Do you ever wake up more tired? Or take a nap that has completely broken you down instead of giving you energy? I’m sure you do! Rest assured, this does not happen with restorative yoga. This practice, even if you don’t fall asleep while practicing it, but just stay in a relaxed state, allows you to relax all the muscles in your body, even your brain and give you a boost of energy!

If you practice restorative yoga all week, by the weekend you will never be tired of your past week, because restorative yoga will have re-energised you every evening after work when you get home!

Reason number 6: Release your body tension, but also your mind!

Focusing on your breathing makes you forget about your daily worries, only the comfortable posture matters. In addition to freeing and lightening your mind, this practice releases bodily tensions, because we are in deep relaxation! As you know, everything is linked, the mind and the body are one to keep you in balance. A practice that takes care of both is therefore to be preferred.

Reason number 7: Practice to take care of your health without any physical effort from your part!

Are you tired after a day at work, but want to stretch your body without going for a run or doing a Vinyasa yoga session? Don’t panic, this practice is for you! Effortless, you don’t need the energy to put your feet up against the wall for 10/20 minutes while closing your eyes or lie on a pile of pillows to open your chest.
